A Space between (ASB) was founded in 2019. The CIC formed from a place of lived experience because of our own battles with mental illness and stage 4 metastatic cancer. We understand first-hand how creativity can help to heal and wish to share that with others facing similar challenges. ASB work with hospitals and community centres to address the anxiety, isolation and loneliness of vulnerable groups, patients and healthcare workers through free, accessible, therapeutic art programmes. These take the form of unique monthly printed booklets (including ‘Notable Guest’ contributions; mindfulness art exercises designed by a monthly Artist in Residence; poems; community donated drawings…) delivered through Creative Care Packs (along with a monthly selection of art materials); colouring artwork books; workshops; partner projects and a digital platform to support all the above.Since Launching in October 2019, we have delivered 7000+ creative programmes and packs across the UK, worked with 22 Hospitals; collaborated with 100+ professional artists and received 500+ drawings from people of all ages, worldwide. We currently have a waiting list of 5 more hospitals requesting their programmes.ASB initiatives extend to the community at large - reaching isolated groups such as the elderly; schools and workplaces to educate in the benefits of creativity for wellbeing. Our vision is to make the practice of art a powerful connector, widely accessible and integral to enhancing health, for people of all ages.
