About Tianyi Lu

Currently, I am a Ph.D. student in Materials Science at the University of Denver. I have been working as a Research Assistant in Dr. Maciej Kumosa’s research group and in charge of the project of "Synergistic Effects in Environmental Degradation of Glass Reinforced Polymer Composites." This belongs to one of the leading research areas of the NSF Center for high voltage/temperature materials and structures. This project mainly focuses on the aging of a variety of thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers and glass fiber polymer composites in aggressive environmental conditions such as UV light, moisture, nitric acid, and elevated temperature. I have accumulated hands-on experience with mechanical testing, chemical synthesis, material characterization (e.g., FTIR, GCMS, AFM, SEM/EDX, DSC, DMA). I'm also familiar with the preparation processes of polymers including compounding, extrusion, and injection. I'm looking for a related job in materials, chemistry or mechanics now.
