I am currently supporting research and policy development to advance climate action and emissions reductions in British Columbia with the Climate Action Secretariat, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

In this fast-paced role, I applied my project coordination skills to administer the Carbon Neutral Government (CNG) Program, which supports public sector organizations in British Columbia to achieve carbon neutrality each year. I provided client services, planned a major climate leadership conference and engagement webinars, and helped keep the team on time and organized during the CNG reporting cycle.

I worked with my team to research and implement solutions that protect endangered old-growth forests in BC while supporting sustainable economic development in Indigenous and forest-based communities.

For nearly five years prior to becoming a Research & Engagement Officer, my role at the AFA lived at the nexus between operations, development, outreach, project coordination, research, and overall campaign delivery.

The humble beginnings of my career at the AFA began as a door canvasser. In addition to raising awareness and funding for the organization, I supported the Victoria Canvass Director in leading the canvass team.

In this role, I facilitated the in-country implementation of short-term study abroad programs. I greeted university students at the airport, assisted in providing cultural and safety orientations, managed in-country travel logistics, and ensured that the students and faculty were always safe, healthy, and happy.

Kaya's mission is to promote sustainable social, environmental and economic development, empower communities and cultivate educated, compassionate global citizens through responsible travel. I advised volunteers and interns on international development project placements in twenty-five countries.

The Humanity Exchange fostered leadership in international development through volunteer, internship, and language learning programs. I recruited volunteers and interns to locally-led projects in West Africa and Colombia. This role also involved coordinating with and learning from many local non-governmental organizations, language instructors, and the invaluable in-country Exchange Managers whose local guidance made THEX’s work possible.

Hands down, this serving job has been my favourite not least because their business model includes serving locally-sourced, BC-fresh ingredients and delectable Italian ingredients, but because of their caring staff and patrons. I worked at Cotto, and in one other role at The Humanity Exchange, while I studied my undergrad at Simon Fraser University. I still make sure to visit and order my favourite dishes when I'm in the area.
