Tuskegee Center Of Academic Excellence And Innovative Learning
As a Peer Tutor, I was responsible for leading both individual and group tutorial sessions. At the beginning of each semester I hosted a "Back-to-Basics" Workshop to help freshman refresh their basic math and science skills. During the semester, I hosted campus-wide tutorial sessions for each major chemistry exam. The individual sessions were my favorite, because I was able to truly get to know my students and develop relationships with them. At the end of all tutorial sessions, I was evaluated by my tutees on my performance. I always received high marks from these evaluations as I continuously strived to provide the best experience each time a tutee came in for tutoring.

Research Assistant
The objective of my research was to determine the effects of wear and corrosion on aseptic loosening in total hip replacements. I hypothesized that as the time in vivo increased, the damage scores will also increase, because wear and corrosion generally correlate with time. To test this hypothesis, I assigned damage scores to clinically successful prostheses and prostheses that were removed due to aseptic loosening. Damage scores were plotted against time in vivo to compare the amount wear and corrosion in these prostheses to their respective time in vivo. It was found that the probability values were large, indicating that there was weak evidence supporting my hypothesis. I had the opportunity to present my research at the Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
