Under the guidance of a legal professional, paralegals in the public sector perform a variety of tasks in different areas of law, including:

performing extensive legal research, contributing to the legal knowledge contributions for our unit, compiling documents for court proceedings or for client consultation files, drafting court documents for filing before administrative tribunals, Federal Courts and Provincial Courts and applying appropriate rules and procedures when managing a legal file.

As well as, identifying important dates and court deadlines, analyzing and interpreting legal precedents and drafting case summaries and liaising with clients, and organizing information from clients, governmental or other institutions.

I am a member of the Women’s Legal Mentorship Program (WLMP) which is a national legal mentoring platform. I think advocating to dismantle systemic barriers self-identifying women face is important and promoting mentorship among one another, equity and leadership is extremely useful for women choosing to pursue a legal career.

I am hoping to mentor a 1L student in the coming months to assist them through the peer mentoring program WLMP conducts.

EL2ES is a non-profit organization that wishes to eradicate all forms of violence by promoting healthy relationships by raising awareness and educating by using a positive, diverse and inclusive approach. Educational programs and workshops are offered to establish and maximize a culture of consent and respect in all settings.
