Developed and taught engaging lessons that were differentiated by utilizing data from various qualitative research methods such as: observations from individual and group activities, individual interviews with students, evaluations and focused learning groups.Attended professional development in effective communication strategies, classroom management, and new curriculum programs to improve teaching skills and strategies.Increased student achievement by establishing supportive relationships with students and communicating clear goals. I was able to effectively raise each students’ reading level up one full level by the end of the first semester.Collaborated with teachers and other professionals as a part of the BLT (Building leadership team), the ABC (Building concerns team) and the TBT (Teacher based team). The goal of the BLT was to meet, discuss and implement strategies and solutions for attendance concerns, school initiatives, academic data, planning upcoming events for parent and student engagement and to discuss any new building news. As a team, we were able to increase student attendance in all grade levels by 20% by planning fun events for students to participate in when they achieved perfect attendance. In TBT meetings, we met with other teachers to discuss data from test scores, create products for parents to help provide their child support at home and to identify areas of improvement. We accomplished increasing student achievement by 10% in all three grade levels.Chosen out of 200+ teaching professionals to design a Health Sciences curriculum that became the blueprint for six other Health Sciences Academies in Columbus City Schools.Developed and led a professional development training on HSA day (Health Sciences day) and the health sciences curriculum for new and incoming staff.
