About Tibor Congo
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Power) at University of Tasmania, with first class honours.I started working with Hydro Tasmania Consulting (Now Entura) and while there I was working as part of a highly effective team. I gained experience in the following areas,- Transmission Line Design- Earthing study, including mitigation plans- Secondary system replacement including wiring, IED settings and testing- Testing of metering points, circuit breaker timing, protection relays, current transformersFollowing two and a half years I moved to Powerlink Queensland and was exposed to the following experiences with some great mentors along the way,- SCADA configuration and wiring interfaces- Main grid planning (110kV up)- Commissioning management, including implementation staging and outage management- Primary system designI worked at Mt Isa Mines (Glencore at the time) for 13 monts, this was an amazing experience that gave me the most confidence out of any of my roles. I recommend this post to all Engineers that want to go out of their comfort zone and be challenged to deliver projects "at the coal face".I'm now living/working in NZ with AEL.Along with these main job categories I have picked up many technical and managerial skills during my career development. I am still developing and have no plans to ever stop, it is something I love about my job.I have had significant exposure to the industry that include many work environments and I feel my confidence as a professional has increased, such that it allows me to be a more significant contributor to the projects that I have the opportunity to be a part of.I enjoy challenge and am constantly in pursuit of new learning and improvement, one of the methods I employ to achieve this is to actively share and seek knowledge with my colleagues. My generally friendly and respectful demeanour have been an asset in achieving this in my roles to date and I am confident I can continue this trend into the future.
