GAMMA INSTRUMENT AND TOOL COMPANYFor the past 30 years, I have been co-owner of Gamma Instrument and Tool Company - a small precision job shop in Danbury, Connecticut. I was involved with all aspects of the business such as quoting, production scheduling, quality control, customer relations and machine tool aquisition. In addition to these duties, I was on the shop floor 80% of the time. My responsibilities included program and set up as well as production on CNC lathes and machining centers. The majority of the parts manufactured were turned components made from constant expansion alloys and used in sophisticated instrumentation for the oil field services industry.Over the lifetime of this relatively small company, we were able to generate over 25 million dollars in sales with a profit margin of greater than 55%. This was accomplished by extremely efficient part processing derived from tooling, process control and machine selection.PRIOR EMPLOYMENTPrior to my involvement with Gamma Instrument and Tool Company, I had been employed as a Project/Design Engineer for companies that produced fiber optic connectors. This was cutting edge technology at that time being developed for use by the Telecom industry.I have designed, prototyped and tested various fiber optic interconnect devices. This included a specialized sonar hull penetrator for the Naval Underwater Systems Center in New London, Connecticut. I took over this project midstream from an outgoing engineer and completed the program on time and on budget.
