Think of me as a Customer Experience Designer. I've spent the past 20 years of my career in the trenches designing customer experience that creates value for the business by solving problems - big problems. I just don't talk about providing great experiences for my customers, I create them.What motivates me? Developing effective relationships with my customers and making them happy so that they want to continue to do business with me.What does the work I do look like? First, I listen, taking the time to identify my customer's needs by asking questions and concentrating on what she is really saying. I listen to her words, tone of voice, body language, and most importantly, how she feels. Second, I try to identify and anticipate her needs. Customers don't buy products or services. They buy good feelings and solutions to problems. Most customers' needs are emotional rather than logical. The more I know about my customer, the better I become at anticipating her needs. Third, I strive to make my customer feel important and appreciated, treating her as an individual. I always use her name and find ways to compliment her, but be sincere. People value sincerity. It creates good feeling and trust. Fourth, I try to give more than expected. Since the future of all companies depends on keeping customers happy, I try to think of ways to elevate my company's service above the competition.What makes me different and better?I try to inject humor into most situations when appropriate. My experience is that if I can get my customer to laugh, especially in stressful situations, then I have a better chance at making a difference in her life and also grow my business. It's a win win.
