About Tico Moore

With 15 years of experience spanning education, training, program management, and nonprofit leadership, I bring a unique blend of skills and expertise to help organizations achieve their mission and provide the highest level of support for underserved and at-risk populations. I have more than 10 years of experience as an educator and special education coordinator, and I have worked with a broad range of clients in the public and private sectors creating and implementing programs and curricula to expand capacity and improve performance. As a leader, I thrive on having the autonomy to create, implement, and monitor a strategy that aligns with the organization's mission. I am motivated by roles where I can have a tangible, positive impact as well as the flexibility and opportunity to be innovative. I have managed both small and large teams, and I believe enthusiasm is contagious when it comes to leadership. I see myself as an “enthusiastic facilitator” when it comes to managing people, and I motivate teams by matching what I say and what I do and leading by example. I have had the opportunity to build lasting and productive partnerships with community and business stakeholders throughout my career. Through relationships with Connections CSP and the YMCA, among others, I launched multiple programs to support and increase opportunities for formerly incarcerated people, teenagers aging out of the foster care system, students with special needs, gifted high school students on the college track, and more.Among the many programs I have built and led, I am particularly proud of what we achieved through Minds Matter NYC. In putting together a program targeting gifted students from minority groups in high school, I took the program from the initial pilot phases through board approval, grant funding, and four years of successful operation.
