Communications Manager
CurrentResponsible for the management, supervision, planning and coordination of the City’s strategic communications plan. The City of Lakeville is a suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul with over 72,838 citizens and 1,200 businesses in 38 square miles. Median household income is $118,377 and median age is 36. Since 2013, the City has the most residential permits in the Twin Cities metro and also has one of the largest industrial parks in Minnesota.✔ Manage the City’s print/electronic, cable television, social media and web services to meet the goals, objectives and timelines of the Mayor, City Council and City departments.✔ Develop, implement, and support a unified strategic communications plan for the City including branding and marketing programs, policies and procedures.✔ Manage materials and information used for communications, public relations and general information, including: • Assist City departments with developing, researching, writing and designing various communications that help citizens understand city policies, programs, and services. • Manage the content of communications to ensure that the perspectives of the Council, City administration and departments. Develop and distribute press releases and maintain regular communication and relationships with media contacts.✔ Manage cable television programming, including Lakeville Public Access TV and Lakeville Government Television stations.✔ Engage businesses and citizens with web and social media activities (across all departments, including police, fire, municipal liquor operations, park and recreation, public works and City administration).✔ Prepare and manage the communications, advertising, web and cable television budgets.✔ Work closely with City Administrator and staff on coordination of special projects, community outreach and events.✔ Active member of the Emergency Operations Committee and City crisis response team.✔ Leader of the Communications, Marketing and television staff.
