I have 2 years experience with working with clients to mentor, empower, and guide them through the Child Welfare System. I was involved at the community level with groups that are trying to reduce disparity and dis-proportionality in the child welfare system. I am a dedicated student with high grades who is going to graduate May 2017. I have had the opportunity to observe the legislative process through the lens of the Department of Human Services. I am have been an employee at Eyerly Ball Residential as a Human Service Counsler. I currently work with residents on life skills, encourage them to accomplish goals, and model independent living. I moved to Candeo as a site manager. After covid, I decided to make a life change and began working in the financial industry. I started out at DLL in their contract management and remittance department. I then landed at Co-op solutions in their Chargeback department. I started a nonprofit organization called helpers of life. Currently, I am gaining the knowledge to run a successful nonprofit and learn to grant write. My plan with the knowledge is to write grant proposals for other nonprofits and small businesses to push the agenda of bringing people of color together who live in the suburbs of Des Moines. The mission is empowerment, uplift, and encouragement of people of color in the suburbs. This will be achieved with the building of a community, education, and political involvement within the community.
