About Tiffanie Root

I took the longer road in my education. I did not go to college straight out of high school, rather opted to join the workforce. After a few years in retail and a massive relocation from the West Coast to the East Coast, I decided it was time to go back to school. It was worth the wait! Having spent a few years working, I developed an appreciation for post-secondary education. It was not given to me freely by my parents, it was something I had to work for, something to earn. From my associate's program to my masters, I take my education seriously and give nothing but my utmost effort to it. My post-secondary start at a technical college was an amazing experience. It gave me technical skills to get a job immediately. The connections I made at the college-level proved invaluable. Most importantly, I was introduced to student leadership organizations. From my work in Phi Beta Lambda, I've met like-minded leaders across the country. I've participated in countless service projects, leadership seminars, and workshops. When I graduated with my associates, I even joined the state committee! As a member of the committee, it is my turn to give back. Now, I present leadership seminars and workshops. I help organize conferences for our students. I network with students across the state and encourage them to participate in Phi Beta Lambda. And, I love it! Fortunately, I work for the Technical College System of Georgia as a database administrator, where they encourage employees to be involved with student leadership organizations! If you've got an interesting opportunity for me, feel free to send me an email at tiffanielroot@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what field of work. Let's see if I can ply some of my talents in business, leadership, and technology in a new way to help your company grow!

Listed skills include Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Customer Service, Powerpoint, and 34 others.

Adjunct Instructor - Coll 1500

Moultrie, Georgia, United States

I prefer student-centered andragogy in the courses I teach, especially in online environments. As a long-time online student, I draw upon my experiences in online courses, as well as the many conversations with my program peers. Where did we find our courses lacking? What do we wish our instructors had implemented in courses? What constituted a 'good' instructor? Throughout the semester, I compare my performance as an instructor against these questions. • Completed TCSG Mandated Blackboard Training in December 2018• 1-2 courses a semester in online and hybrid environments • Actively applied principles learned in my M.Ed to both classroom and online learning environments• Offered weekly 'Open Office' Blackboard Collaborate sessions for students to come in and ask questions or for demonstrations• Diligently monitored student participation to identify at-risk students• Worked with at-risk students to develop plans for success and accommodate extenuating circumstances to increase student retention• Identified high-achieving students and encouraged them to apply for scholarships, providing advice on how to build successful applications• Maintained an up-to-date grade book, never allowing assignments to go more than a week ungraded• Carefully tracked academic calendar to ensure no-shows and withdraws were processed in a timely manner• Scheduled announcements to release at the start of each module to overview the module topics and detail each assignment expected • Periodically polled students to find out what they would like from the course: More live interaction? Videos? Announcements? • Created a Remind101 account for my course to notify students of grade postings, upcoming assignments, reminders, and other important notifications• Encouraged extra-curricular participation to help facilitate a well-rounded post-secondary experience that helped to build leadership skills
