Since working at Chillicothe R-II School District, I have had the opportunity to teach third-graders. What wonderful age-group! Over the years I have served as a mentor teacher and grade level chair was Field Elementary's Teacher of the Year Candidate, and am currently enjoying my second year on the Cohort 2 E-Learning Team. My classes over the years have been blessed with many local Education Foundation Grants, Litton Agricultural Grant, BTC Yough Organization Scholarship, ELKS donation, and five Donors Choose Grants to turn our classroom into a collaborative, literacy and technology-rich environment.

I taught computer skills to students in grades 5-8. These skills ranged from basic keyboarding skills to operating Microsoft Office programs, and basic web design/coding. At this time, desktop computers and computer labs were common in schools. Devices such as iPads, chrome books, and MacBooks were not integrated or some even created yet.

Tasks at this gift shop can be grouped into 5 categories:1) customers: assisting with registries and other shopping needs 2) product: pricing items, stocking shelves, inventory, assembling furniture3) appearance: decorating/designing displays, cleaning the shop, watering flowers/pulling weeds 4) technology: maintaining the register, operating the computer for customer transactions, product pricing & barcode creation5) security: opening & closing the shop
