As Product and Business Development Manager for the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office (FSLSO), I coordinate software development and marketing efforts for all FSLSO technology products and services. In my roll, I organize and oversee the software development cycle FSLSO technology products; facilitate communication between business users, IT staff and software developers; coordinate and perform quality assurance testing for all software releases; oversee data analytics activities for FSLSO and use statistical and quantitative analysis to guide the organization’s business development and strategic initiatives; promote innovation and creative development for new ideas, products, services, and solutions; and coordinate project and document management for all business requirements, technical specifications, business rules, and analysis meeting minutes.

In October 2001, the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office was given the responsibility for collecting surplus lines premium data and taxes for Independently Procured Coverage (IPC) policies. In December 2001, I was hired to develop the process to review premium data and reconcile tax payments for all IPC policies. The expected volume when I was hired in 2001 was approximately 500 policies per year. At its peak in 2007, the IPC department grew to 2.5 FTE and processed more than 17,000 policies annually. Through automation and technology, I was able to assimilate the IPC process into other units of the office, which allowed me to relinquish my duties as IPC Collections Coordinator and move to my current position as Product & Business Development Manager.
