Since graduating college, I have spent the last twenty-four years working to change the face of STEM. I began doing this at Skyline College where I worked as the Director of the Mathematics Engineering, Science Achievement Program from 2000 to 2008. At Skyline, I helped hundreds of students successfully transfer to top-tier universities and gain prestigious research fellowships. After successfully establishing Skyline's MESA program I accepted a position as the Assistant Director of Programs for MESA Statewide. In this role, I worked with nearly 60 community college and university programs training center directors, collaborating with industry, and worked with the programs team and development at the MESA Statewide Office, the University of California Office of the President, and the California Community College's Chancellor's Office. In 2012, I joined the UC's flagship campus by accepting a position at the University of California at Berkeley in the College of Engineering. At Berkeley, I have been lucky to collaborate with outstanding teams in both the College of Engineering and the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department. My joint appointment at Berkeley has allowed me to work directly with undergraduates, graduates, faculty, and staff. Since joining Berkeley I have contributed to record-breaking numbers in terms of diversity in both the department and the college. My greatest talent is my ability to see the talents of individual students and create programs that will help them thrive.
