I created an educational series for parents and caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth to understand identities, communication techniques, and a day in the life of queer youth. By teaching parents and caregivers these things, I am hoping to increase levels of support and affirmation at home which decreases the risk of poor mental health. Because of the vulnerability of college-aged LGBTQ+ individuals, I also wanted to add a Safe Zone workshop for Faculty and Staff. I ended up partnering with the DEI Director to conclude her workshop series with the final series presentation.
