Coordinator Of Student Services/ Retention Specialist

At ECPI University, I was responsible for tracking my individual, team and student population progress. The role was a very dynamic one where I wore many “hats.” I built relationships with students and enabled them to be self-sufficient taking ownership of their student experience. I handled escalated issues with instructors, classmates, and administrative staff. My students were in online classes so I had to be an expert in all popular operating systems, cloud software, internet technology, software programs such as Microsoft Office, and tech support. I was also responsible for having cooperative working relationships and effective communication internally, externally, across departments, and across title levels. Education is a constantly changing environment where I was required to be adaptable, learn complex new policies and processes, but also ensure the process looks easy so students can feel confident in their advisement.I created annual performance evaluations for students, staff, and academic program developers. To create these evaluations I extracted data using contact resource management (CRM) systems, applicant-tracking systems (ATS), and learning platform data. I then statistically analyzed that data to generate reports. I organized the information using Microsoft excel, PowerPoint, and word to create presentations for leadership and my team. These reports helped to identify and resolve procedural issues, or escalated them the appropriate level and/or departments. I identified best practices, solved problems, created individual development programs, increased team motivation and engagement, improved time management, generated stretch assignments, and provided direction and guidance to my team.

Oct 2015 - Mar 2018

Human Resources Generalist / Analyst

I was hired at DaVita Dialysis to create more effective reporting tools for their human resources team. I used the latest web technologies to research progress tracking and development systems. All team members were able to work from home so any tools I created needed to be functional for many operating system versions and platforms. I used Microsoft office (primarily excel) to compile data and generate reports and tools used to identify best practices and measure performance. I used cloud software to share my tools with leadership and staff. I created presentations to train staff on using these tools and reports. I also provided training in diversity and inclusion. I created and executed individual development plans, as well as annual performance evaluation criteria.

Recruiting Team Lead

Admissions advisors are required to provide excellent customer service, build strong client relationships, sustain customer/student retention, and generate referral business. They must also use customer-facing sales principles to recruit and enroll new students. As a team lead, I was responsible for tracking my student population’s success and helping them to succeed. I was also responsible for providing guidance and employee development to my team so they could meet, and exceed, organizational expectations. All advancement was merit-based so I led a results-oriented team. It was necessary to thrive in a team environment. I was responsible for training, mentoring, assessing, motivating, and engaging my team to meet deadlines and goals in a timely and accurate manner. I was also responsible for preparing new hires for leadership. I was responsible for tracking team productivity and performance to create and execute staff development plans. About 60% of my team members became successful team leads themselves.I also participated on several task-force committees, two of which were the Ashford Events Committee, and the Leadership Culture Club/Engagement Team. I was the university’s only admissions representative on the committee. The team collaborated with executive leadership, and other department representatives to establish budgets and plan all company events for staff and students. We had 75-90% event attendance for the 3000+ employee population and were always under-budget.The Ashford Culture Club was formed to identify procedural and cultural issues, then solve or escalate these issues as appropriate. We were also responsible for analyzing data to identify the most engaged staff and develop best practices and engagement initiatives. During the culture club initiatives, we saw a 50% increase in new hire retention and an 30% increase in new-hire benchmark goal accomplishment bringing the training success rate up to 80% which was the highest in the university.
