Conscious investors remove gender, age, racial, geographic and educational bias when looking at an investment opportunity. This is much harder than you think it is because so many biases are subtle and investors are unaware of them.Women Entrepreneurs: Study after study shows that women CEOs outperform men, though due to high levels of discrimination, women only receive an abysmal 2% of the venture capital investments. Women often have to jump through more hoops than men. Astia was the first to pave the way for women to raise $2B in venture capital over the last 20 years and Astia Angels is a recent fund. Latino, African American or other underrepresented minority entrepreneurs rarely receive venture capital money. We need more funds like Backstage Capital, Wolverine Investment Fund and Cleveland Avenue Fund and Babel Investors that can look at investing without a racial bias.Age BiasVenture Capitalists tend to dismiss older experienced industry veterans and favor enthusiastic twenty-somethings. In a wide-ranging survey of US startup founders polled by venture-capital firm First Round Capital, 37% said age is the strongest investor bias against founders, while 28% cited gender and 26% cited race.
