Tiffany Poirier is a national award-winning educator, inquiry-based learning specialist, speaker, and the author-illustrator of "Q is for Question: An ABC of Philosophy". Tiffany helps children, parents, and educators to learn the tools, strategies, and skills to think critically and work together in a community of inquiry. She loves supporting learners to discover their passions and gifts. Tiffany holds a Masters of Education in Administration and Leadership (University of British Columbia, 2012), a BEd in Elementary Education (UBC, 2006), a BA in Philosophy (University of Victoria, 2004), and a certificate in Performing Arts (Canadian College of Performing Arts, 2000).Tiffany teaches grade 5 in Victoria, BC. Prior to her current role, she worked as a teacher and vice principal in the Greater Victoria School District for 7 years. She also worked in the Surrey School District as a District Resource Teacher in gifted education, teaching in the Challenge Program. She also taught in a Multi-Age Cluster Class with students in grades 5, 6, and 7 (Surrey) and in the Vancouver School District’s Gifted Challenge Centre with students in grades K-7. She also has taught extracurricular enrichment classes and gifted summer school and provided private gifted consultation services for families. Tiffany speaks to educators and leaders at conferences such as Connect Ed., GETCA, the World Gifted Conference, and TEDxVictoria. Her popular keynotes include Way of the Inquiry Ninja, The Question Toolbox, and 10 Tips for Richer Dialogue.She has been interviewed for CBC radio’s “The Sunday Edition” and subsequently, her class was featured in a documentary for the same program. She also writes educational articles, published in The Tyee, BCTF’s Teacher Newsmagazine and Synergy Magazine. Her work was discussed in an article in Torch Magazine.Tiffany received the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence (2014), Mindshare Learning’s “Spirit Award” for her 21st-century learning practices (2013), and the Hazel and Jack Grimmitt Scholarship and Outstanding Practicum Award (UBC, 2006).
