My practice is grounded in trying to right wrongs for people, businesses, and government entities. Legally, theoretically, logistically, politically. Find, investigate, report, prosecute. Repeat. Day to day this means I do a lot of things. I ask a lot of questions, find the right words, and fight for my clients. And I care. On my resume it means I litigate complex litigation and social justice matters including personal injury, class action, fair wage and hour claims (FLSA), intellectual property, mass torts, civil rights, sexual abuse, and defective product cases among others. My clients have included individuals as victims and consumers, businesses, and government entities.Much of my last five years I’ve spent in the opioid litigation. My former firm and our partners represented cities, counties, and tribes around the country and hold hold opioid manufacturers, distributors, and dispensers accountable for the human disaster that money train caused. I spent the first half of 2022 (and more) in San Francisco as part of the successful trial team in San Francisco v. Purdue. There we achieved a public nuisance liability verdict on behalf of the People against Walgreens for its contribution to the opioid epidemic. I am part of a team of amazing attorneys which seeks to hold corporate hotel brands accountable for sex trafficking under the TVPRA, and regularly represent other survivors of sexual assaults against the individuals and institutions that hurt them.Whether litigating in or or out of court, plotting strategic external advocacy, or triaging mass quantities of information, I am passionate about finding new words for untold stories. Plus, tech, data, privacy, and innovation drive my excitement for the future. But that's not the whole story. I am fortunate to have had many great other opportunities.Among other things I have worked as a reporter, communications director, staffer on more than 14 political campaigns, fundraiser, and event planner. Immediately prior to law school, I was the Chief of Staff at the former New Jersey Office of the Child Advocate where we worked towards systemic reform and improvements in New Jersey's youth care systems - including juvenile justice, behavioral health, and the foster care system. I’m lucky to have been a part of and been helped by a number of communities: Southern Illinois, New Jersey, St. Louis, Ghana, San Diego, San Francisco and countless other places along the way.I grew up in Capac, Michigan but for the last 12 years have loved my life in Detroit.
