• Oversaw inspection bureaus for retail, manufacturing and dairy milking and processing facilities as well as laboratories that perform microbiological, molecular, chemical residue and antibiotic analyses on food and water.• Represented the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) on national councils for the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act's Produce Rule.• Evaluated new food safety agricultural water criteria for against those for the EPA.• Oversaw FDACS's Food Safety role in the wake of the BP oil spill crisis determining its impact on the safety of Florida seafood. • Managed a division of 300 staff and annual budget of over $20 million.

• Provided impartial scientific advice to federal agencies (USDA, FDA, CDC, Dept. of Commerce, National Marine Fisheries Service, and Dept. of Defense) to use in developing integrated food safety systems from farm to table and to ensure food safety in domestic and imported foods • Assist in determining recommended criteria for public health significance that would lead to regulatory action of various serotypes of e. coli in food and potable water.

• Coordinated over 100 outbreak investigations across Florida's 67 county health departments and in collaboration with other State and Federal agencies. • Ensured proper training, surveillance and detection, investigation, and reporting of food and waterborne disease outbreaks across the state of Florida to prevent or intervene quickly in the event of an outbreak.• Ensured that environmental assessments were conducted at the sites associated with possible contribution to contamination and human infection.• Supervised 11 employees which included: 9 Epidemiologists, 1 Administrative Assistant and 1 Emergency Preparedness Coordinator • Managed an annual budget of over $900,000 per year that included cooperative agreements and grants.• Serve as the recognized expert in epidemiology across the state of Florida, representing the state at national public health meetings
