In 2007, I founded onXis (ON-X-IS), an independent technology consulting firm focused on Open source (O), Networking (N), information security (IS) and special projects (X). The Bermuda based company provided IT/DR solutions, cyber risk management, incident response, digital forensics, technical training, project management, digital transformation guidance, and advanced security research to service providers, governments and private clients. OnXis was sold privately in 2020.

As CTO at QuoVadis (QV), a leading certificate authority with operations in multiple countries, I was responsible for leading the construction of a $10m Tier-III city data centre in Bermuda. My role involved identifying and addressing technical debt and information security issues in QV's production CA infrastructure, and developing suitable replacement managed services. I successfully delivered the data centre build on time and within budget, and established new physical and logical security perimeters, automated environmental monitoring systems, and self-service rack-level access controls. I also commissioned new carrier aggregation (CA) demarcation points and structured fibre and copper connections to enable a range of high-availability telecommunications services. In addition, I installed and hardened new BGP edge routers and developed a managed IP perimeter security service, as well as approving security policies for firewalls and other security systems. I oversaw the decommissioning of QV's legacy data centre and the design and commissioning of new storage systems, including an all-SSD petabyte class, scale-out distributed cloud storage cluster and a multi-tenant VMWare IaaS platform.

Responsible for leading the development of a new business plan and strategy for the company, focusing on reliable, cost-effective bandwidth and responsive market-driven operations. Managed a cross-functional team of 5 and responsible for staff reviews, goal setting, and career development programs. Worked with the regional sales teams to analyse customer requirements, assist with sales pitches, and onboard new customers.Throughout my time at Quantum Communications, I achieved several notable accomplishments, including launching the first-to-market metro-Ethernet service in Bermuda, establishing a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) and successfully interconnecting with all national, international, and mobile carriers, developing and launching a next-generation carrier-grade VoIP service, transforming Quantum Communications into a fully self-funded operation, increasing Quantum Communications' POP count by over 400%, establishing a national IP/MPLS backbone, and leading a crucial national backbone fibre expansion project. I also supported the regional sales teams in closing several deals worth over $1m.

Responsible for evaluating, installing, and managing systems, as well as researching and developing managed services. I also played a key role in integrating ISP and e-commerce platforms, and supporting regional sales teams in selling market-driven Colo and IT/DR solutions for the eBusiness Solutions Centre (eBSC).One of my major achievements was establishing a 100Mb/s full-duplex, route protected proof-of-concept (POC) metro-Ethernet service using legacy Quantum Communications (Q) fibre. This POC demonstrated the feasibility of using Q's fibre-optic network to deliver improved national network connectivity for the eBSC. The POC was successful and resulted in the first major hosting deal for the eBSC. I also played a key role in the relaunch of Quantum Communications and supported the Cable & Wireless regional sales teams with requirements analysis, sales pitches, and customer onboarding.

As an integral member of the team at Logic Communications, I was responsible for the successful launch and delivery of a range of innovative internet services, including dial-up residential internet, leased line internet service, international frame-relay, residential ADSL, VoIP/FoIP, physical/virtual secure hosting, web development, digital marketing, and offshore e-commerce. I played a key role in the 24/7/365 monitoring of these services and was involved in the research and development of new products to meet the growing demands of the startup ISP. My efforts helped Logic Communications to scale its production platforms and become a prosperous regional ISP.

As a member of the team at Internet Bermuda Limited (IBL), I played a crucial role in the development and expansion of the company's internet services. From helping to launch dial-up residential internet and lease line Internet services, to introducing international frame-relay and residential ADSL, I was instrumental in bringing innovative technologies to the market. In addition to my responsibilities for service delivery and monitoring, I also contributed to product research and development, and worked to scale production platforms to meet the growing demands of a successful regional ISP startup. Overall, my work at IBL allowed me to gain valuable experience and make a meaningful contribution to the early development of internet services in Bermuda.
