Dr. Thanos Tiliakos is one of the few non-native scientists in Romania. He is a Senior Researcher working for the New Materials for Hydrogen Energy Group of the National R&D Institute for Cryogenic & Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) in Râmnicu Vâlcea, where he is responsible for the Laboratory for Nanostructural Investigations. He is also affiliated with the Centre for Vibrodiagnostics for Equipment Testing and Automation (CVDTEA) at the Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Department of Engineering Science, in Reșița.Initially trained in environmental engineering, he continued his postgraduate studies in atmospheric geophysics, environmental management and crisis economics; he received his doctorate in nanotechnology and alternative energy sources. He specializes in hydrogen energy, laser photochemistry, thermal analysis, rheology, X-Ray and Raman spectroscopy, additive manufacturing, nanotechnology and 2D materials; he works on developing energy storage and conversion applications using advanced materials and experimental architectures. Dr. Tiliakos serves at the editorial boards of the Elsevier journals Hybrid Advances and Results in Surfaces and Interfaces, and the MDPI journal Fuels.
