Responsible for all aspects of the management of the German subsidiary of the KDAB Group, including finances, human resources, operations as well as sales and business development in the German speaking market. Originally started as a satelite office with a few colleagues, the German KDAB company now employs 35 staff and contributes about half of the overall turnover. The Berlin office is a key engineering hub, hosts the KDAB training center and handles the logistics of running the annual Qt Developer Days conference as well as smaller topical events.

Representing KDAB as a founding major shareholder. Kolab Systems is a joint venture that was created to develop and market the Kolab groupware solution, the technological and business development of which I was involved in since its beginnings. I have been active in growing the Kolab activities from isolated projects into a business unit at KDAB and finally into a separate company. From the selection of the executive team to the initial strategic positioning, through pivots and the integration of new investors, with periods of acting as interim head of operations and helping make key technical and roadmap decisions, Kolab Systems as a company entirely built on Free Software and Kolab as a technology have been and continue to be a passion.

Originally hired as a student help to work on quality issues and bugs, I was quickly involved in customer projects and product development, first mostly at implementation level and with more experience also at system design and architecture level. This lead to project lead roles, being prime contact for key account customers and eventually team leadership for one of the development units.

Provided freelance services writing technical documentation for laboratory software and designing, installing and maintaining IT systems for health care and drug treatment facilities. This included some scripting level software development and integration.
