As the Central City Programme Manager, I got to lead the incredible transformation of our central city in a joined up way. This was all about shaping our central city into a place to call home and do business - with 4,000 homes for up to 10,800 people over the next ten years.Investment in our central city is larger than ever (over $120m plus the recently announced Government IAF grant of $150.6m) and I oversee all projects and activity happening in the geographical central city boundary which covers over 178ha.Through the Central City Programme, we are investing in our central city, opening it up to the Waikato River, making it a great place for people to live and work, while making it easier to access and move around in. The outcome will be a central city that is more inclusive, vibrant, and prosperous - the beating heart of Hamilton.I link together network infrastructure, community facilities, city safety, land use planning, parks and open spaces, funding and commercial partnerships, working with land owners, iwi, developers, government agencies and the community to deliver long term, place making outcomes for the central city. As the Central City Lead on the Future Proof Priority Development Areas Working Group, I also work with partners across the subregion to unlock opportunities in a collaborative cross-agency way.
