Been in Public Safety for nearly 40 years. My favorite WWII General is Teddy Roosevelt Jr. He is known for forming the American Legion. My favorite story-legend, was his leadership on D-Day. He was the only General on the beach that June 1944, General Roosevelt led the 4th Infantry Division, on the first wave of the invasion, onto Utah Beach; except the landing missed the mark by one mile. After a short recon and armed with a cane and 45, Teddy said "Well start the war right from here." Teddy died three months later from a heart attack. General Patton and General Omar Bradley served as pallbearers at his funeral. I ask folks to review General Teddy's life, strengths and shortcomings and his ability to overcome and get the mission done.
