I am a writer and college writing instructor who often leads workshops/retreats, sometimes acting as a writing coach for individuals. I write for literary journals (e.g., The Missouri Review, Spoon River Poetry Review, Witness, Boulevard, Creative Nonfiction) as well as popular interest magazines (e.g., the Ethiopian Airlines Magazine, Des Moines City magazine, Christian Science Monitor, Kansas City Star Magazine). I particularly enjoy freelance writing assignments related to the visual arts. Currently I am promoting my newest book--a memoir titled Running to the Fire.
