Since finishing a Diploma of Education in 2008 I have experienced a range of work experience which have assisted in me being where I am today. The School for Student Leadership enabled me to kick start my education career and I couldn't ask for a better start to learning about student engagement, leadership and empowering students in the classroom and global community.Following this we lived in the Northern Territory for 3 years working with local, regional and remote communities delivering school sport programs, interschool programs and embedding pathway programs to the southern region of the NT. After our time in the Red Centre, I was Recreation Coordinator at the Children's Charity The Portsea Camp for numerous years. It was here we organised programs, staff and volunteers for attending schools, community groups as well as charity events which had over 300 participants and 100 volunteers! I have overseen, developed and implemented risk management, outdoor programs, staff training, professional develop, community relationships and partnerships to assist in the development of the recreation program. Since 2019 I have been teaching at East Doncaster Secondary College. With the methods of Outdoor Education and Environmental Science I have been involved with curriculum documentation and development, headed up domains, coordinated year 10 year level and now find myself fortunate to be a leading teacher in Student Voice and Community Engagement. In a sense there has been a full circle with my career with my focus returning to student voice and agency and community engagement that once started at the School for Student Leadership. Its an area of true passion, that I will continue to pursue in to the future whilst sharing my love of the natural world and the great outdoors
