The Nexen Lead Engineer role covered all Industrial Control Systems, cross-discipline including all Process safety and control systems, Subsea controls, Electrical switching, load management and data systems, HVAC controls and Metering flow computers, supervisory and reporting systems. It focused on delivery of operational support through definition and management of engineering change. It provided support to the business through identification of operations improvements or fault-fix needs, followed through to delivery of corrective actions utilising EPC or Vendor effort. The role also required planning for obsolescence management through planning support strategies or managing equipment migration to supportable technology. The role also required in-house delivery of minor modifications, through creation of Scope of Work, interface to suppliers, interface to the offshore Activity Plan and support offshore for suppliers through installation and commissioning.The role also required contract management for the business of the Major Automation Contractors (ABB, Yokogawa, Honeywell and Cetix) including development and execution of Contract Management Plans.The role also covered delivery of the Industrial Control and Monitoring System (ICMS) Security programme, developing governance and technical solutions within the Process Control and Process Information domains on and offshore. To enable this, I undertook several training courses through CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+) and was Certified (by exam) as a Global Industrial Controls Security Professional (GICSP).I was required to regularly present the strategy and plans for delivery of key workscopes to Co-Venture partners and senior leaders. This required preparation of presentation materials, and review by business leaders for approval prior to delivery to Partners.

Stand in Technical Authority during periods where the C&I TA is absent, with day to day role providing technical support to the onshore and offshore teams regarding technical acceptability of corrective work, materials selection and maintenance strategies and routines.

Technical responsibility for the Topside and Subsea controls systems for the Everest and Lomond platforms, through pre-Asset acquisition and into Duty Holder and Operatorship from BP to BG Group. Definition of change through the engineering change management system and approval cycle, following technical definition and definition of budget requirements per scope. Creation of workscopes either for EPC execution, or direct delivery through management of Vendors for minor scopes. Day to day support to the operations teams for fault investigation and fix. Definition of and delivery using Vendors of control system maintenance and remedial activities.

At the Transition of the four Mature Asset platforms from Shell EPE to TAQA Bratani, I assumed the role of Maintenance Team Leader. This role was leadership and development of the onshore maintenance support team which comprised the four Asset focal points, nine Discipline support Engineers, three Logistics support personnel and one Maximo Technical Clerk for a team of 17. The role also encompassed user-requirements setting for the CMMS development plus review and amendment of maintenance strategy, contract scope and delivery management plus tender/bid award support to the Commercial team.

Supporting the Shell Mature Asset, consisting of Dunlin Alpha, Cormorant Alpha, Tern Alpha, Eider Alpha and North Cormorant. Provision of telephone technical support, oversight of all work on Shell EPE Assets by ICS Triplex staff, monitoring for obsolescence and provision of engineered upgrade or migration solutions for Client adoption. Offshore work on all Shell EPE installations delivering specialist maintenance and problem resolutions.

This role involves managing design of package systems and application of protection instrumentation, checking of design standards and approval of design solutions. Package systems supplied to date include new-build Instrument Air compressors, new-build Power Generation units

Management of the interface between ICS Triplex and the Shearwater Development Alliance. I was the Vendor Representative at site, with responsibility for commercial and technical management of the commissioning for the Installation F&G systems. This also includes performing all training for, and competence assessment of, the maintenance team both onshore and offshore.Experience of Autronica BS100 addressable systems, Thorn Minerva Addressable systems, TDC3000 with GUS interface programming and Yokogawa FastView during this time.

Management of all ICS Triplex activities relating to the Shell Expro UK Ltd North Sea installed base. Commercial control and detailed design of modification packages for the ICS systems, performance of deep-system maintenance, training for and competence assessment of the Client offshore staff.Working with ICS SFD2000, SSD2000 solid state products, ICS2000 Motorola VME PLC products, and interfacing to Honeywell TDC3000, TDC3000 with GUS and Transmitton Kromos.

Commercial control, technical design and implementation of upgrades and modifications to ICS systems. Technologies including ICS solid state products SFD2000 and SSD2000, ICS PLC products ICS2000, Regent Classic TMR and Regent Plus+ TMR. Also design and programming of Allen Bradley PLC5, Modicon 984 PLC families and Klippon Modulink Mux systems.

Team Leader for the ICS Commissioning Team during the Gannet Development Project and Solepit Compression Project, including design and implementation of system modifications as required by the Client at site. Also including F&G system training and competence assessment of Control Room Operators and Maintenance Team technicians.

Validation of new-build ICS systems prior to shipping to the Client, including technical peer reviews of design to ensure the systems were fit for purpose. This also included function with all field devices and proving of third party interfaces to DCS, ESD, and HIPS systems as necessary.
