Strategically focused on those markets that fit our product offering best and not those that we could not be seen as a leader in. Obtained lists from multiple sources (mostly without cost associated) and developed a systematic solicitation program which consisted of sending out 35 introductory mailings per day and managed follow up phone calls for entire program. Also joined trade associations in each state we actively solicited and participated in industry conferences.

Joined Badger Scale and developed the northern and central regions of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Quickly found that the automation of scale systems (truck scale applications in particular) was where the market was headed. I then teamed up with companies/individuals that specialized in this work which allowed both parties to achieve their goals and most importantly provided the customer with a reliable system which offered technical support when required. When possible we offered these systems in-house and I developed marketing campaigns to acquire more of this business such as automated scaling systems for the dairy industry.

I began my career with Fairbanks Scales directly out of college. I was initially hired into a newly created position called a "Sales Specialist." This position involved working under an Area Sales Manager out of the Woodridge, IL factory direct service center. My duties included making cold calls, learning how to use a CRM (ACT! 2.0), where to find leads and quite a bit of traveling around the country spending time with other Area Sales Managers.Within six months I was offered a position in Minneapolis as a Area Sales Manager covering a small part of Wisconsin, most of Minnesota and North Dakota. I quickly found that close ties to my service support center were key to territory growth. I also began to find ways to source lists of all of the grain elevators in my area which was a key market. Mailings began and I eventually convinced management to allow me to hire part time help to follow up on these mailings. I eventually took this same approach with other markets such as food manufacturing and aggregate producers and produced similar results.By my second year as a Area Sales Manger I ranked number three in the country and worked my way up to the number one Area Sales Manager my last two years.
