My role included communication with senior management, financial & management reporting, budgetary and forecasting, treasury management, accounting staff recruitment and leading the accounting & finance teams into becoming an integral part of operations.

Gull Group was Australia's largest independent fuel retailer with operations in WA, QLD and NZ (now owned by Puma Energy Australia) with annual revenues of over $850 million. My role encapsulated the usual CFO duties of finance, risk, corporate governance and strategic management. My biggest achievement was creating and Chairing the "Stock Committee" which directed and managed the working capital requirements of the Group during such times like the 2008 "GFC".

My role was to manage over 20 staff, Group budgeting, management reporting, capital expenditure forecasting, introduction of Activity Base Costing & ROFE concepts, treasury management, statutory financial accounts preparation, audit and risk committee and acquisition due diligence.

Grimwood Davies was a publicly listed mineral drilling services company with revenues of over $25 million. With the gold price plummeting to a 40 year low, my role of being responsible for the financial and secretarial aspects of the company expanded to include engineering commercial decisions and actions that ultimately enabled the company to successfully navigate its way through some difficult times.

Victoria Co (Australia) had extensive investments in Perth's gaming and hotel sectors which generated annual management revenues of in excess $65 million. I set up the finance and administration of the corporate head office and was responsible for all financial for all aspects of the Group including reporting, treasury management, tax & risk management and staff recruitment.

Joined PwC to be become a Chartered Accountant in 1985. I started as a Graduate and rose to Assistant Manager level by 1988 within the Audit and Assurance division. In 1986 was seconded to the PwC office at Port Moresby, New Guinea followed by a secondment to the New York, USA office in 1988. In 1989 I was seconded by a PwC client for 9 months working in their UK, Scandinavian, Canadian and American offices. Many skills learnt at PwC still form part of my business repertoire today.
