Deputy Head of team, and Team Leader for AI Skills, R&D and AI Adoption, and National SecurityA key part of the leadership team of the Office for AI since its inception in 2018, providing leadership across the whole team, growing it from six to twenty, leading the team through a particularly challenging and uncertain period. At the same time working with No.10, Treasury and across organisational boundaries to deliver a number of high profile and impactful initiatives, including:Secured £50m of funding for, and worked with UKRI to deliver the Turing AI Fellowships programme, which has recruited some of the top global AI talent to the UK;Led the AI skills policy team, who initiated and delivered with the Office for Students a new £13m AI and Data Conversion Courses programme, launching 2,500 new masters places backed by £10m of scholarships for people from underrepresented backgrounds, which has significantly improved the diversity of people studying AI in the UK;Led complex negotiations to deliver the first legal definition of AI in the UK, as part of the National Security and Investment Act; Internal coach within Civil Service
