Your work ethic has always impressed me as well as your tenacity. Never lose that drive! I've always been impressed by your mission to conquer everything as best you can. On the 1st June I was promoted to the position of Corporal, being a team supervisory role. All of my work involved commercial/industrial property protection, although I have been posted in East Auckland a couple of times primarily patrolling schools. As a Security Officer I have learned to deal with a vast cross section of the greater Auckland community. On a daily basis I talked to people from all ethnic backgrounds, and from all socio-economic groups. From vagrants, to the wealthy, to the very drunk, I have managed to come up with ways to assist people and think very quickly on my feet, most times with successful solutions. A key part of this position was organising and carrying out raids in conjunction with the NZ Police to evict vagrants from premises that we protected, primarily buildings that were broken into for the comfort or crime.Parts of the city can be very dangerous for officers who work alone. Being threatened verbally, physically, with broken bottles or needles is common place and it is no place for the complacent to work. Show less

This position involved protecting a school for children with severe behavioural problems and the out buildings which were used by church groups from multiple ethnic groups. The school grounds were in the immediate vicinity of a number of criminal and gang houses, many of these people using the school as a short cut to the local town centre. During my time here I started training my German Shepherd Dog in personal protection, and also as an active deterrent for certain members of the community carrying out undesirable activities. After initial training, I was promoted into a mobile patrol role. This involved the checking and patrol of a large number of school, commercial and industrial premises, ensuring the safety and security of people and property in the South and East of Auckland. I continued working with my dog in all tasks undertaken throughout my tenure.I also worked in a CCTV Monitoring role for the Otahuhu local business/retail community looking after a 28 camera system, which Magnum Security was contracted to operate. Otahuhu is in general, a low socio-economic and high crime rate business district in South Auckland. Show less
