I am a mechanical design engineer with Philips Healthcare’s ultrasound transducer organization, "using the inaudible to see the invisible". In this role, I design a broad array of solutions for both internal and external customers’ mechanical, electronics packaging, manufacturing, and clinical needs. In my day-to-day work, I provide mechanical design, CAD modeling, detailing, and dimensional management on a full spectrum of mechanical components, including machined, die-cast, and sheet metal components, flexible printed circuit boards, and plastic injection molded parts, as well as providing manufacturing tooling and equipment design and process engineering to deliver high value designs to the manufacturing floor and to our customers. I enjoy working as part of a collaborative cross-functional and cross-site team, aimed at designing premium performance ultrasound transducers to value-conscious and performance-critical markets.Combining my years of medical device design with a brief period in the automotive industry, I’ve developed a decidedly broad range of interests and areas of expertise, including: high precision component & system design, tooling/fixture & complementary process design, dimensional management (e.g., statistical tolerancing and GD&T), physical ergonomics, and product platforms & families.I enjoy developing designs with great thoroughness and integrity, in which all levels from the end customer’s needs down through the “nuts and bolts” are considered, analyzed, and intentional. I love that no two days in my work life are the same as I routinely find myself asked to grapple with the unfamiliar and non-routine. I find it satisfying to bring a broad range of capabilities and backgrounds (and several key areas of deep technical expertise) to similarly diverse teams producing products and solutions that have meaningful impacts on our customers’ lives.
