I utilized statistical design of experiments to conduct formulation and process research for the HYPERroots™ biodegradable hydrogel growing medium, which is used in greenhouses, hydroponics, and vertical growing systems. HYPERroots™ revolutionized the agriculture industry by offering a proprietary, high-quality product that is sustainably sourced. It was the first plant growing medium to receive compostable certification from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI).

As a chemist specializing in drug development, I played a key role in synthesizing large-scale drug candidates for human trials, utilizing innovative techniques that contributed to multiple patent filings. I enhanced process efficiency and sustainability by designing greener, more cost-effective statistical Design of Experiments (DOE) methods for synthetic processes.I managed global synthetic campaigns across the US, China, and India, collaborated on process transfers, and authored several Requests for Proposals (RFPs). With expertise in the lab, I optimized numerous synthetic routes and provided essential chemistry support for multi-kilogram scale campaigns.

I designed and developed novel synthetic routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) of two promising anticancer drug candidates, successfully scaling up to kilogram quantities and personally synthesizing the materials for their First Time in Human (FIH) trials under tight timelines. My innovative work on the lung cancer drug crizotinib was instrumental in advancing its market launch. Additionally, I optimized complex fused heterocycles to support the testing of treatments for HIV and macular degeneration.

I developed antiviral drug candidates designed as cellular entry inhibitors for the Hepatitis C virus. I created these novel compounds based on structural-activity relationships and supervised an associate-level chemist throughout the process.

I was primarily responsible for developing and executing several large scale syntheses for biodegradable polymers used in human implantation. Materials I synthesized were successfully utilized in clinical trials resulting in a product’s FDA approval. I also synthesized the material that was used for product launches in Europe and America. These experiences enabled me to become proficient in cGMP protocol, information management, official documentation, departmental coordination techniques, material supply supervision, and budget control.
