Responsibilities included the oversight and maintenance of the Washoe County, City of Reno and City of Sparks Transient Lodging Tax Ordinances that were developed under my leadership as the Washoe County Transient Lodging Tax Administrator. This oversight required the daily involvement of approximately 225 licensees in the County addressing complex transient lodging tax matters involving local Hotels, Motels, R.V. Parks, Timeshares, Vacation Rentals and weekly Motels. In addition, transient lodging tax returns and collections totaling over $300 million dollars per year are processed and distributed under my supervision to various jurisdictions within the County, City of Reno, City of Sparks and the State of Nevada. Room Tax audits and ongoing education programs (tax issues) within the community were also part of my responsibilities.

Responsibilities included the adherence of the State of Nevada Gaming Commission minimum internal control standards (MICS), along with the oversight of a $72M 300 room tower expansion along with retail, gaming, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. Additional duties included, but were not limited to the following:• Annual Budget and 5 year budget preparation and submission to Corporate• Preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports for Board of Directors and Managers• Day to day accounting functions including payroll, payables, receivables, inventory control, internal audit controls and audit compliance (GAAP), Gaming revenue audit functions and various State tax return submissions• Preparation of 10K’s and Q’s• Oversight of banking, cash management, investments, insurance, corporate compliance, legal liaison, IT, purchasing, benefits and capital projects

As a Hilton Finance Director/Comptroller, responsibilities included financial accounting management, banking, cash management, budgeting, financial statements, insurance, regulatory compliance, gaming compliance, legal liaison, IT, purchasing, capital expansion projects, staff development and providing support to the management team as well as the corporate office.Accomplishments:• Developed and implemented the first consolidated corporate accounting center (Chicago) for Hilton Hotels Corporation. Consolidated various accounting functions for the Palmer House-Chicago, Chicago Hilton and Towers, O’Hare Airport Hilton and the Waldorf-Astoria in New York resulting in $1.2 million dollars in annual savings.• As a result of the successful Chicago consolidation, implemented a larger consolidated facility in Phoenix that included Hilton Hotels properties from New York, Miami, San Francisco and Honolulu. Hired and trained 125 employees operating an 18 hour/7 day a week office ultimately serving over 30 Hilton properties throughout the country resulting in $5.3 million dollars in annual savings. This model is still in existence today on the East Coast.• Served as property Comptroller at the Seattle Airport Hilton, Phoenix Hilton, Chicago Hilton and Towers and the Reno/Flamingo Hilton Hotel and Casino.• Chicago Hilton- opening Comptroller, oversaw $200M renovation & construction budget 1,800 rooms.• Flamingo Hilton-Reno, oversaw $65M renovation & construction budget 604 rooms.• Seattle Airport Hilton, opening Comptroller, oversaw $40M renovation & construction budget with complete demolition of Hotel rooms, new 180 room tower addition.
