Tim sits on the Leadership Team at Wiispa. His role is focussed on Transaction Execution, Strategy and Operations.

Before joining Wiispa I did some part time teaching as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law. During this time I focussed on teaching modules in Corporate Law and Insurance to a range of students. It was strange being the other side of the class room but made thoroughly enjoyable by the students I taught.

Prior to Wiispa I was super proud to be part of the successful growth of the Transactional Risk team at Lockton. We grew quickly and gained a great reputation for delivering on challenging transactions in tight time scales. We grew quickly and gained a great reputation for delivering on challenging transactions in tight time scales. There are numerous highlights from my time at Lockton but would pick out the following as being important to me: • London Team Growth – I joined Lockton at a time where we moved the book of business from relying on the Lockton network to directly sourced work. It was hard work but really satisfying. We banged on doors and worked hard to deliver on some great deals to develop a reputation as one of the leading brokers in the market in terms of deal execution. • Establishing and Leading Manchester TR Team – I moved up to Manchester in 2018 to establish the first specialist Transactional Risk team outside of London in the UK. I couldn’t be more proud of what we built and the great people I got to work with during this time. • Involvement in Wider Lockton Business – I enjoyed being part of the wider business at Lockton. I sat on the Leadership Group at Lockton Lab (the innovation group for the international business) which was great fun looking at the future of insurance. I was also part of a winning team at Lockton’s Flight School. I also sat on the Wholesale Business Committee, Group Wording Committee, Change Management Group and was heavily involved with Transactional Risks claims. Just before leaving I was part of the team that won the Unquote 2021 W&I Broker of the Year award which was a nice way to finish my time at Lockton. Show less

I joined Pembroke Managing Agency (Syndicate 4000) and Ironshore (initially on secondment from Taylor Wessing). The W&I market just about to go through a massive period of growth and was starting to recruit from the legal community. It was an exciting ride being part of a business that was going from a pretty much unknown insurance product to established insurance class in a few short years. I joined TW as an Associate moving down from Leeds to London becoming a Senior Associate towards the end of my time there. It didn’t seem like the perfect move to TW when on my first day Lehman brothers filed for bankruptcy. Luckily I was in a great team and we were always busy. I was in the Private Equity team which sat in the wider Corporate group. Work included a broad range of transactions for Private Equity principals, Management Teams, Corporate Clients and Family Offices. I was runner up in lawyer of the year competition whilst at TW and was part of a team that won a Team Work Excellence award for execution of a complicated cross border transaction. During my tenure at TW I was seconded to assist the In House counsel at Bateman Engineering in Johannesburg with the sale of Bateman to Tenova S.p.A. It was great to have an international post and experience working in a different country.

I started my career as a Trainee Solicitor in Eversheds Sutherland’s Leeds office. I worked there for a couple of years with four six-month placements which included time in: Restructuring, Corporate, Commercial Contracts and Real Estate. I have been lucky to work with lots of Eversheds’ Sutherland Alumni during my more recent time in insurance.
