A 3D model was then produced for design investigation using CATIA• Served as an engineering consultant / expert witness for Airbus at the European Patent Office in Munich.Contract Lead Design Engineer - Airframe Repair, New Products (Composites) Responsibilities undertaken: - Lead Designer for the Airframe Repair (New Products) design team.• Design investigation for AUK airframe repair group, covering latest products i.e. A380, A350XWB and A400M. Working on primary wing structure.• Compile repair solutions for damaged areas. Repairs can be metallic, composite or a hybrid of both.• Using 3D laser scanning for damage assessment and archiving. Also, linking 3D scans to digital mock-ups using laser tracking systems for deviation comparisons.• Lead designer for repair group dealing with damaged Qantas A380 (VH-OQA). The team won an Airbus Award for Excellence in 2012.• Patent awarded for a repair of primary structure, composite covers and stringersContract Design Engineer - A380 Continued Product DevelopmentResponsibilities undertaken: - First line design support to manufacturing, dealing with build issues.• Design investigation of modifications to all areas of the A380 wing.• Major areas include leading edge, trailing edge, main wingbox. Also, fuel systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and movables (wing leading edge and trailing edge).• Compiled various installation assembly drawings.• Studied the wing digital mock-up for clashes between systems and structures.
