Unassuming engineering technician by day, foster and adoptive super-dad by evenings, nights, and weekends... dun dun dun... it's Tim the Foster Dad!When I began my work career, I never dreamed of where I would end up… mostly because I never knew my career existed. Through delivery, retail, manual labor and a variety of other jobs, my employment has in some way contributed to my current career.On my 30th birthday I received the call that I had the position at Concho Valley Electric Cooperative as a staking engineer. My career at CVEC has been amazing. I have learned several skills and expanded my knowledge of mapping, GIS systems, property law, contract law, customer service, and have been provided the opportunity to improve my leadership and public speaking abilities through the Dale Carnegie course. About 3 ½ years into my career with CVEC, my wife and I became licensed as foster care parents. This is where I found my life’s purpose. Over the next several years we were able to minister to 12 children and adopted 4 of those. I was able to serve as the Vice-President and President of the Concho Valley Foster Parent Association, the latter beginning within months of completion of the Carnegie course. A few years later we began New Journey San Angelo, with visions of The Dorm dancing in our heads. This has been a rewarding experience as I know the plans I have set in motion will benefit a plethora of young adults aging out of the foster care system. It is an honor to serve as President and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Join with us as we prepare the next generation of foster youth for independent adulthood!
