I am a priest in the Church of England, with particular interest in the practical theology of Christian voluntary work in the wider community, completing my doctorate research and studies (DThM) at Durham University, St John's college in 2020. Since Ordination in 1988, I have had over 15 years of full time parish ministry plus over 6 years as a Prison Chaplain, and over 10 years of voluntary ministry. After 3 years study at Westcottt House Cambridge (1985-1988), I was curate at St Berteline and St Christopher Norton, in the Diocese of Chester, then Associate Minister (to create a Team Minister post and cover the interregnum for the retired Rector) at All Saints Bedworth in Coventry Diocese (1991-1996) during which time I became an an ACC registered counsellor. I was also on National ECLECTICS council 1992-1995, providing an annual conference for open Evangelical ministers under 40yers of age, I also attended similar conferences in Germany (Evangelical church of the Rhineland). I was in the Oxford Diocese from 1996, spending almost 7years in the Witney Team Ministry as Team Vicar (1996-2002) including being part-time chaplain to Witney Community Hospital, before becoming Lead Prison Chaplain at HMP Bullingdon (2002-2009). I then spent time in part-time study and the following voluntary roles: from May 2012 to February 2020 as executive Chair of Oxford Diocesan Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODCD). During this time I assisted in ministry within Oxford Diocese, as Vocations Advisor to Witney Deanery (1998-January 2020), Animator (group facilitator) to three Curate groups successively, preached in parishes and undertake tutoring work. From May 2001 until October 2020 I was a Trustee Director to PACT (Oxford Diocesan Council for Social Work), chairing the "Communities Sub-committee". I moved to Hove in 2020, and currently assist in a voluntary capacity (PTO) at St Luke's Church Prestonville Brighton.Specialities: I completed a DThM (Doctor of Theology and Ministry) course at Durham University, St John's College (2020) researching the faith of Christians as they volunteer in the community. My MA at King's London (2010) culminated in a thesis on the theology of work. In 2022 my article on "The Bible in the ordinary theology of Christian chaplaincy volunteers: a case study" was published In the BIAPT Journal "Practical Theology" vol 15 Issue 6, published December 2022 by Taylor and Francis.
