HS2: C1 Earthworks and Main Compound Civil Engineering Works & Colne Valley Viaduct Enabling worksWorks included redevelopment of a greenfield site for the construction of the tunnel segments and tunnel arisings processing plant along with water treatment plant. Excavation and placement of 1.5 million m3 of earthworks, construction of embankments for the High-Speed rail line, stabilisation of 750,000m3 of on-site material saving on the requirement for importing material. Installation of16km of drainage, 14km of ducting and 3km of channel drain. Preparation and installation of 35,000m3 of RC structures and 12,000m3 of concrete roadways. Re-alignment of the River Colne along with the reinstatement of 2 new berms to incorporate wetland grass habitats.
