Pittsburgh Winery is a boutique urban winery and music venue located in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District with roots going back nearly 15 years. Winemaker and owner Tim Gaber began his winemaking career as a hobby among friends making small batches of wine the old fashioned way. He soon became impassioned about everything wine and wine making and began to collaborate with seasoned vintners in California and to study at UC Davis in order to sharpen his winemaking skills. The hobby became a little something more when he founded a small private winery with a partner in 2008, but Tim quickly grew out of the partnership and decided to move to launch an authentic brand on a larger scale. In 2012 Pittsburgh Winery was founded in the old bank building located at 2815 Penn Avenue. Urban wineries do not own vineyards so they have the opportunity to bring in wine grapes from some of the best vineyards in the world. Premium California and Chilean fruit is sourced and this quality fruit along with an imaginative winemaking style results in hand crafted, fine wines that are anything but ordinary.

Tim has had the good fortune of being able to make music with, manage, book and promote a multitude of amazing and talented individuals over the years in addition to booking and marketing numerous venues.Tim now plays occasionally with Buzz Poets, and does the music bookings for the Pittsburgh Winery, but was a full time musician for many years with Brownie Mary, Buzz Poets and DA Rebmi. Tim also owned and operated a Pittsburgh based Booking, and Management Company called Hepcat Productions.Tim's most notable project, Buzz Poets, have been one of Pittsburgh’s most colorful, maniacal and solid bands since 1997 when the flashy and trashy band of rockers first hit the Pittsburgh music scene. Their high energy, alt rock style got people’s attention not only for the stage antics and lyrical content, but for having very well written and memorable songs. The music is all over the map stylistically demonstrating the bands love for everything from the pop punk and ska sounds of 311 and Sublime to Seattle grunge rock, to hip hop and reggae, and of course their love for the Beatles as a songwriting foundation is apparent. Having written some classic radio hits like “Copenhagen Girl” “Psycho”, and “Parasite” the band played 200+ shows a year for many years, but the most meaningful song the band has ever written is “Angel Eyes” about the tragic loss of a dear friend. These days the band makes rare appearances and consists of Phil MacDowell (vocals, guitar) Tim Gaber (bass, vocals), Justin Sarra (keys, turntables), Juan Vasquez (guitar, vocals) and Matt Gray (drums) and continues to bring the energy and the music that the loyal fans have known and loved for over a decade.
