Reef Energy LLC is a Veteran owned Energy Consulting Company focused on wholesale power services to various Municipal, Cooperative and Investor-Owned Utility clients throughout the Southeast. Tim Gerrish is the President of Reef Energy LLC and has over 25 years of experience in the Southeast wholesale power markets. Most recently, Tim spent the last 16 years working for Florida Power & Light (FPL) as the Director of Power Origination, assisting Municipal and Cooperative customers with their wholesale power needs in Florida. Prior to working at FPL, Tim worked at Constellation Energy, Progress Energy and Carolina Power & Light. Before Tim began working in the wholesale power business in 1998, he served for 10 years as a Nuclear Submarine Officer in the United States Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Tim graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Master of Business Administration.

Manage the natural gas, coal and power origination function for a 25,000 MW electric utility with over 4.6 million customers.Direct the annual procurement of over $3 billion of natural gas and coal to meet the fuel needs of a diversified generation portfolio.Grew the wholesale power annual sales revenues from $30 million to over $120 millionManage the optimization of natural gas assets including 2.6 Bcf per day of transportation and 2 Bcf of natural gas storage.Responsible for developing and managing a 700 MW portfolio of Renewable and Qualified Facility power purchase arrangements.

Managed a team responsible for the marketing of a 3,000 MW merchant generation portfolio, concentrated in the Southeast United States.Directed the transition of the merchant generation portfolio from a tolling and spot market focus to a load serving “mini-utility” business, supplying over 13 million MWh annually while increasing margins and business scope.Successfully originated and negotiated a six year, full-requirements energy supply agreement with 15 Georgia EMCs, hedging over 60% of the company’s merchant generation exposure over that term.Received the 2005 Pinnacle Award, Progress Energy’s highest honor, for extraordinary achievements in performance and innovation.

Responsible for power marketing activities in the Southeast.Successfully managed the integration of Constellation’s acquisition of the Progress Energy Ventures power and gas portfolio.

Responsible for the wholesale origination and account management activities for a 10,000 MW diversified utility.Managed wholesale customer accounts with annual net income in excess of $150 million.Originated structured power supply arrangements providing innovative solutions to address wholesale customer needs.Ensured contractual compliance and developed negotiating strategies to resolve customer disputes.Lead the successful acquisition of 1,050 MW of merchant generation in Georgia.
