Dr Tim Gibson is an applied biotechnologist, with extensive academic and industrial research and development experience, particularly in technology translation and transfer between academia and industry. Recent major activities have been at the interface of ‘state of the art’ life sciences including nanobiotechnology, advanced sensor systems and commercial application and implementation. Is a Senior Visiting Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds. He has a strong technological background, having progressed as a laboratory technician from the bench to become head of a University research group and a director in 2 University spin-outs, working on applied enzymology and advanced chemical sensor technology. Developed business skills ‘on the job’ and successfully transferred out of the academic environment, into an e-commerce company as Client Relationship Director. Then he founded T&D Technology in January 2001, which is an independent Technology Brokering and Consultancy Company and Technology Translators Limited which was incorporated in September 2002. Initiated and assisted in the successful buy-out of Bloodhound Sensors Ltd from the University of Leeds in 2005 to form Scensive Technologies Ltd. This technology was then acquired in 2011 by NetScientific, who formed a new SME, RoboScientific Limited in 2012, to develop and manufacture VOC analysers for a number of industry sectors. He co-founded ELISHA Systems Ltd in 2007, an antibody based biosensor company spun-out from the EU funded project ELISHA. Currently he is working full time as Chief Scientific Officer of RoboScientific Ltd.
