Managing the IT systems for the largest privately owned Pest Management & Fumigation Company in the country, with four sites around the UK, expanded my knowledge and responsibility in a challenging and varied role

While managing the helpdesk, tasking field engineers, mentoring staff; as well as providing first, second and third line support for over sixty sites across the region; I constantly built on previous experience and continued to learn new skills to enhance the quality of customers’ IT systems.Working both remotely and on site, I targeted areas of improvement and offered solutions that best fit the customers’ needs.From installing and configuring servers, printers, laptops, PCs and backup solutions, [tape and NAS] to networking, [LAN and WAN, copper and wireless] security and anti-virus. As the nature of businesses supported are as diverse as their IT networks; a pro-active, forward thinking and flexible approach was required; along with an understanding of emerging technologies and legacy products.

Interfaced with clients and managed shop floor staff, a varied and interesting role within the themed attraction environment that strengthened my proficiency in the following:Overseeing projects from initial design, to complete build and installation, based on strict deadlines and budget constraints.Procurement of all materials.Heading teams to fit-up on site in the UK and Europe.Metalwork engineer/fabricator and carpenter.In-house designer, using Photoshop.I.T. specialist for the company, advising staff and troubleshooting all aspects of computer usage.

costume prop makers During my residency at Allsopp's I attained the position of Workshop/Project Manager within a year. I included in my duties:Co-ordinating projects to meet highly demanding deadlines for clients around the world.Liaising with customers as to their requirements, from initial concept and design through to delivery.Tutoring staff on the many various techniques required to make high-end prop costumes and models.Ordering materials and sourcing new suppliers.Stock control.Maintenance and repair of all machinery and equipment.Interviewing potential employees.Running and maintaining a workshop of up to twenty staff.Running the company in the absence of the M.D.Working on projects for many films, TV, West-End shows, operas and ballets world-wide. I also ran the engineering and metal work department and often solved complex design issues, exacting the highest standards of finish and durability.Provided holiday cover for 'The Lion King' Puppet Department; maintaining and improving their many varied props and puppets.Also a visiting lecturer at Bournemouth Arts Institute for the Design Model Making Degree course, where I taught techniques to students and facilitated the completion of their projects to the highest standard, assessed and graded their work, and interviewed course applicants.
