Hi! I’m Tim, I write Triple’s weekly newsletter about the tech world.Who is this newsletter for?I combine mainstream news coverage with more esoteric content via 6 (sometimes 8) snackable pieces of analytical writing. Tech is highly diverse, often confusing, and difficult to make sense of at the best of times. Feeling at home in the tech world isn’t always easy. That’s where I come in. I want to make you feel at home in the tech world. Whether you’re an industry veteran, or your smartphone’s the closest you come to the tech world in a given week, I’m here for you. My newsletters always have three topics:The Week That Was: 2-3 items that I think were particularly relevant over the past week. Flexible Topic: a topic with 2 items in it. This heading and its contents change based on what facets of the tech world had significant things happen in them over the past week.Rules of Engagement: 2-3 items about ethics and legal matters in the tech world. AI Generated Content:I generate images for my newsletter using the MidJourney AI image generator. Prompts are based on various artistic movements, artistic techniques, colour profiles, and whatever materials, creatures, or concepts happen to catch my attention. I avoid ‘in the style of X’ or ‘by X’ prompts unless the artist is dead and/or part of our shared cultural heritage. I might use Rembrandt, or Da Vinci, for example. The picture of me at the bottom of each newsletter was not made via AI, a professional photographer took it. All writing and opinions in the newsletter are my own, I don’t make use of AI writing tools as such ChatGPT. I take responsibility for any human error and will do my best to correct it if need be.Serendipity:I go through several thousand articles in any given week. Sometimes I find something cool that doesn’t fit in as part of the newsletter's regular topics. If I still want to show it to you, I serve it up in a ‘A Nice Cup of Serendipity.’ This topic gets its name from my evening ritual and the concept of serendipity. Serendipity means making fortunate discoveries by accident. As for tea, I sit down every evening to have a nice, relaxing cup of tea with family. I hope the random bits and bobs I gather from all over the web will provide you with similar relaxation and enjoyment. One More Thing…I always end my newsletters with a wink towards how Steve Jobs used to close out his presentations. Sorry, I won’t pull a wafer-thin laptop out of an envelope for you onstage, but I will give you a short status report about my personal life and experiences over the past week.
