I am a highly experienced Insurance and Reinsurance Executive with more than three decades within the industry. I would characterise myself as pragmatic with an ability to simplify complex scenarios, execution focused, solution driven, collaborative and having utmost integrity. Throughout my career I have served as a member of the Board of Directors of insurance and reinsurance companies – I have significant international regulatory experience also have a detailed knowledge of Lloyd’s of London being involved with the establishment of a new Syndicate and a Managing Agency of which I was a Director. I have also served on Audit and Risk Committees.I am a Chartered Accountant and have Risk and Tax qualifications.I have spent the last 2 decades working with AXIS and was one of the earliest European employees. I have considerable start-up experience and was involved in the set-up of the European insurance and reinsurance businesses including their UK and European branches and Lloyd’s. I also have M&A experience from acquiring EU insurers, MGA’s and I led the successful integration of the Novae Group plc acquisition into AXIS. This experience includes portfolio remediation, restructuring and multi-national portfolio transfers and Loss Portfolio Transfers at Lloyd’s.Prior to AXIS, I worked for 12 years with Marsh during which I had significant exposure to numerous captive insurers and reinsurers, the majority of which were Fortune 500 subsidiaries and I was a member of the Board of Directors of Marsh Management and the client subsidiaries. I was the Marsh lead for the first insurance securitisation where the SPV was based in Ireland and was a member of the Board of Directors of the SPV. I also oversaw various finance and treasury activities for Marsh clients.I have external trade association experience having served as Chairman of DIMA (now part of Insurance Ireland), a director of the IUA (International Underwriting Association of London Limited), and Committee membership of Financial Services Ireland. I have been an Approved Person by the CBI / PRA / FCA / Lloyd’s and APRA.
