One year research contract, sponsored by Dow Corning Corp., investigating silicone dilatants and their use in flexible body armour and impact attenuation systems. Provided fundamental understanding of impact protection and helped target development of future systems.

• Designed and implemented software and hardware for materials and product impact testing
• Designed and developed body worn impact protection systems for sport, medical and military applications
• Devised and assisted in supervision of undergraduate research projects in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Imperial College. Various topics including metatarsal protection, flexible ballistic armour development
• Involved with working groups within the British Standards Institute on projects involving hip protectors and rugby studs
