    Adjunct Instructor
University Of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Sep 1997 - May 2011
Instructed senior design project class (ME-394). This class consists of four design projects throughout the semester. The students work in teams. The projects are structured so that they focus on a specific physical phenomenon. This enables the; students to perform complex problem solving and gain concrete understanding of abstract engineering principles.; Instructed Fatigue of Engineering Structures. This class dealt with the principles of fatigue in engineering materials. Instructed Structural Dynamics (CE-785). This class dealt with the vibration and forced response of single and multi DOF systems. Other graduate courses taught include 240-732 Fatigue of Engineering Materials and 612-761 Structural Dynamics, 612-726 Mechanical Vibrations.

  • Harley-Davidson Motor Company
    Chief Engineer, Fabrication & Assembly
    Harley-Davidson Motor Company Oct 1988 - Feb 2009
    Milwaukee, Wi, Us
Executive leadership responsibility for all of the Harley-Davidson fabricated content at the vehicle level. This includes frames, swingarms, fuel systems, fenders, and several other vital systems important to the consumer and the business. As the executive leadership for this portion of the vehicle engineering, I am responsible for a 60 engineers and related staff. I am indirectly responsible for tens of millions of dollars of capitol investment on behalf of the manufacturing community. Through leadership of this critical part of the business, I am able to influence future product and process directions. In my tenure, I have been able to re-engineer every frame, swingarm and engine mounting system at Harley-Davidson. In conjunction with these new designs, I have been instrumental in leading robotic automation of the weld systems. A significant step forward has been with the 2009 model year touring frames and their fabrication processes.
  • Harley-Davidson Motor Company
    Manager, Frame Systems
    Harley-Davidson Motor Company Mar 1996 - Jul 2007
    Milwaukee, Wi, Us
Developed staff , design guidelines and analysis techniques for newly formed Frame Systems Center of Expertise (COE). This group is a decentralized center of expertise - a first in H-D engineering. Frame Systems is responsible for the design, structural analysis and testing for all H-D frames and related components. Developed standards for analysis of frames, techniques for superelement analysis, and developed several industry leading methods of applying FEA. These include Load Recovery, Flick Optimization and UNSEEN mesh convergence. From a project standpoint, I have played a pivotal role in several major motorcycle programs, and have developed concept vehicles to be used as the basis for new products. In my tenure I have lead the complete redesign of every OE frame in the company’s portfolio. Also I have worked on a numerous small projects involving fatigue of components, acoustics and vibration. Current technical projects include improvements to best fit tolerance analysis using rigid body mechanics and 3D spatial tracking of powertrains using string pots. I currently manage the cooperative leadership of frame manufacturing through the use of Fabrication Best Practice Circle and actively involving my staff in all manufacturing aspects of the product.
